The Details
The Bobcat Trail 3 is a capable mountain bike with a modern trail geometry built for exploring singletrack trails. It has the best in class frame and a solid, serviceable spec. This makes it the perfect choice for a recreational rider or an upgrade.
Key Upgrades over the Bolinas Ridge 2:
- Series 2 Aluminum frame with double-butted tubing and internal cable routing
- SR Suntour XCM HLO Fork with 120mm travel and hydraulic lockout
- Tektro Hydraulic Disc Brakes
This is the 27.5" version, a 29" version is available.
The Bobcat Trail 3 has 120mm travel SR Suntour XCM HLO DS forks. It is capable of holding up to intermediate level trails, even for the heaviest riders. You will float over roots and rock gardens. The fork does not degrade in performance much and doesn't require much maintenance.
The Marin comes with Shimano Altus 8-Speed, with a double chainring (36/22T) this gives you a total of 16 gears. Enough gears for most gradients you will encounter on most of your local trails.
The brakes on the Bobcat Trail 3 are Tektro M275 Hydraulic Disc brakes with 160mm rotors. This gives you sufficient stopping power for fast, wet conditions and in the dry.
